SAR 59

I might as well do 2 while I'm at it and need to catch up some...

Marie Antoinette:

Ok, well here's a back story for htis one... one of the drawbacks to getting these movies via real mail is that sometimes the DVDs won't play all the way through or have a spot that won't play... well usually this is a quick fix and i just have to wait a day or so until i get a working version but this movie i had to go through 3 different discs! It took us like a week and a half before we finished this 2 hour movie.

Now to the actual review.

One thing that really bugged me about this movie was that with all the great costumes and scenery and historical accuracy they pumped in modern music... and bad modern music at that. I mean, what's the point? are you trying to prove that their music sucked or somethign? i don't understand why movie makers feel the need to do this now with movies set in the past. this was my only true beef with the movie... except that they decided to create the history of hte movie instead of going with what people actually thought. They put words in Marie's mouth and took them out of her mouth (referring to the "let them eat cake" stuff)... I"m not really sure of the truth of that statement but from what most people teach from history she did say this and the movie made it seem like it was completely fabricated. Then they didn't even show her death... that was kind of a cop out ending to me.

Anyway his movie gave me too much unneeded stress so i can't rate it too highly.

The Condemned:

Stone Cold Steve Austin is a good actor and great action hero guy. He should get out of his deal with WWE and do real movies. I'd see just about anything he'd do and there's a much bigger market of his fans than people realize.

Anyway, the movie was interesting and good. Stone cold did a great job and it had lots of good action and fight sequences.

Knocked UP;

Better movie than I expected, that's for sure. It was def funnier than I expected and had lots of different types of humor, not just toilet humor or sex humor. It was a good movie and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

You Kill Me

Decent flick (another one I've never heard of before)... It was a weird love story of sorts who has a main character (played by the guy who play Gandhi) who is a hit man and has a drinking problem so he gets shipped out of town by his boss and tries to get his life together. Its kind of a combo of an AA movie and a chick flick but with some guy humor.

300:

second time i've watched this and reviewed it... Still a cool movie to watch. I still like the story and like the way teh story was told. My prediction... stupid schools with no tradition and original thoughts will start showing clips of this movie on their jumbo tron to pump up crowds in teh future.

The Contract:

Morgan Freeman is good in everything I think. If he's in it, he'll do a good job if anything. John Cusak was great as well. I enjoyed this movie.

SAR 57

I've got some catching up to do and I'm rendering some video right now so I've got time to kill so here goes another one....

Paradise Now:
Very interesting movie. Not very good but def interesting. It was like a "from the terrorist point of view" movie. Or more specifically, a movie from the view of a confused terrorist. It showed some of the manipulation that goes on from the higher ups of the terrorist leaders and as that power trickles down thru the ranks of the actual terrorist who commit the acts. Here's a wake up call for potential terrorists... esp Muslim terrorist...

IF you think that blowing yourself up is the same thing as being a martyr you are greatly mistaken... being a martyr means your life was taken for your faith/beliefs/whatever.... not given as a result of your own suicide. If someone holds a gun to your head and says "do you believe in ______" and you say yes and die as a result you are now a martyr... if you go in somewhere and act like an idiot and say "this is for _____" and blow yourself up... you are an idiot and will look like one in front of God/Allah when you finish blowing up. Good luck to you and stay your pooper away from me.

Sorry for the rant

Volver:
Good flick. Hispanic movie about a young girl who kills her stepfather b/c he tried to rape her; however, she thought it was her real father. Then they don't call the police, and end up covering it up around everyone and then the rest of hte movie is how they cope togehter and through problems. For some reason I liked this movie. I like it a lot actually... it wasn't the best ever but I would watch this movie again.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Rocky Balboa: woo hoo! another rocky movie :cough cough ph34r.gif

Not a huge fan of the rocky series but this one seemed to follow the same theme. I do think, however, that this will be the last of the rockys. At least I hope so. Stallone looked insane. he looked like he was on roids or at least and old guy on roids. I actually didn't really enjoy the movie that much.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

SAR 56

Wow! 56 SARs and (after this...) 156 movies! That's quite a handful of flicks and there's more where that came from but now.... to the reviews!

Fracture:
Lawyer/crime movie. Suspect kills wife... or does he? actually he doesn't, he only puts her in a coma. Well, at least that's the trail against him. and the "Him" i'm referring to is played by Anthony Hopkins. I don't think A Hop (ha! i like that A Hop, its like IHop but with better acting and less fattening)... anyway: AHop does a good job with his role but I just couldn't picture the other lead in his role. He was a younger guy and was supposed to be a big time up-and-coming lawyer but it just didn't fit for me. Also, there was no subplot love story which usually annoys me but it was lacking of something more.

This wasn't a bad movie and it had a pretty decent twist at the end YET! and a big yet!!! the main character missed one of the blairingly obvious details at the end and considering the whole trail was against him and he was so OCD that they couldn't prove anything that this made for a pretty big hole in the plot. Not necessarily unrealistic but just didn't fit to me. They could have ended it cooler with a shootout or orgy or something..

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Kicking it Old Skool:
I think i've discovered that I enjoy Jamie Kennedy's sense of humor. I've never really had any interest in any of his movies or tv shows but whenever i'm finally sitting down to actually watch anything that he does I enjoy it.

This movie was pretty funny and yet as predictable as expected but still enjoyable.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Delta Farce:
Decently funny. Better plot that expected but still too much toilet humor. I think that :Larry the cable guy is funny but he should stick more to some of his lesser gross jokes than resorting to toliet humor. The rest of the guys were funny too and laughed a little throughout.

Decent flick, if you are in for a stupid humor type of flick and have 85 mins to kill... go for it.

SAR 55

I've got some time to kill so I'll do a few more...

Stick it:
I guess if i was a gymnist this would be my Rocky or Hoosiers... or maybe it was a terrible display of Gymnists and i would have hated it... but either way it wasn't really the movie for me. Now don't get me wrong i enjoy watching young girls prance around in tight leotards who are super flexible and all; but when you add in a plot and a strange (to say the least) main character who is an ex-Olympic qualifier who choked or something and now she's the outcast of all of the National team...

anyway, long story short. I easily made it through this movie b/c i am a straight man but other than that it wasn't that great, not terrible, not great, not much of a rating...

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

The Ex:
I'm not a fan of these types of movies. Like meet the parents... you know, the one where the bf is trying to win or keep the girl and all this stuff happens to him in the process? Yeah, that's not for me. I sympathize too much with the main character and actual end up wishing he would dump the female dog and find a new girl with less issues.

Well, this movie hit the nail on the head with my nerves... an EX BOYFRIEND! don't get me started. There is absoluletly ZERO reason any girl should keep up with their ex's... unless of course she sitll likes them and/or is still sleeping with them ha! and guess what? in that case, we can cut this short and I let you get back with Mr. Dee Ouche Bag again.

Anyway, this wasn't a terrible movie but i don't recall laughin at all and kinda wished the movie would end earlier than it did.

Shoeless Rating: ZERO! Federline on that ex's!!

Redline:
Now i'm not gear head but they've gotta keep somethings realistic for me to really stay interested. The movie starts (much like the preview) with a guy who is driving thru the desert at speeds over 200 mph (cough cough) and then turns off his lights so he can use night vision to drive the rest of hte way with clearer vision and eluding cops... if you haven't started laughin yet, you should rent this movie b/c you'd probalby think it was realistic.

This movie was a joke and although it had some good moments it was extremely hard to watch from and Editors standpoint with all the breaks in action and bad lining up of clips that were relevant to each other. I mean if a guy floors it and shifts gears the next shot shoudln't be of the car breaking... and if a car is accelerating at a high rate of speed, the next shot shouldn't be of teh RPM tact dropping to zero.

I know i'm bitching about stuff that really doens't matte but it gets on my nerves which makes me not enjoy the movie as much...

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

SAR 54

Let's keep on going while I'm at it...

Conversations with God:

Based on one man's experience in his life and who claims its a true story. He went from homeless to personally having conversations with God late at night. He start chronicling everything he was hearing and ended up writing quite a number of books and helping out hundreds of thousands of people during his lifetime. This movie was a story about how he became homeless and then got back on his feet and the people he meet along the way that helped him etc...

I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't a religious movie but just one man's experience. It didn't guilt you into anything and it didn't make you feel like it was stupid either. If I were a non-believer it would have sparked my curiosity enough ot possibly go out and buy his book or maybe even a Bible. This is another example of a movie that I had never heard of and I didn't even find the movie myself... I had to be turned onto it by someone else! I enjoyed this movie.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Chasing Christmas:

Another spin off of the classic Christmas story with christmas past, present and future. It wasn't terrible but it really wasn't that great either. I felt like I had a special connection with the main character (played by tom arnold) b/c he pretty much hated christmas b/c of all the bad things that had happened to him personally on Christmas and the bad association that he had with the season, but I don't think that I could stop celebrating christmas no matter what my experiences were b/c of how much I still care for other people and what the season actually means. Hell, a lot of non-Christians celebrate christmas b/c of the goodness that it brings to others and that's actually a good way for Christians to get the meaning of the season out there to people. But that's another discussion for another blog... this is my review of the movie.

Decent flick, not that funny. I don't really recall laughing at all but it was a more recent take on a classic story and I didn't completely hate it...

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Take the Lead:

Dancing movie with a spin. Based on a true story out of NYC where a bunch of seemingly unreachable kids get taken on by a big time dance studio owner who takes a different approach to reach them. He gets them to ballroom dance and it helps focus them and discipline them enough to help them change their lives and attitudes and in teh process he learns a little from the kids as well... how to loosen up.

Decent flick. I'm not much for dancing b/c I don't know jack about it and if you've ever witnessed a fish out of water flopping around on the ground you've actually seen something more beautiful than watching me dance. But my gf is a dancer so she could give me some good feed back on what was good or bad about dancing and I'm into movies and gave some good feedback on how back some of those dancers acting abilities were smile.gif

SAR 53

You might be wondering where #52 went if you have been reading my blog... but anyway in the process of converting the reviews to my blog i noticed that i conveniently skipped a number way back at the beginning of the year so I'm just not getting that all squared away back to normal!

but I digress...

WildHogs:

Well, I'm not really a fan of John Travolta but the rest of hte crew was pretty gunny and even John had his moments of humor. If you did'nt know the story its pretty much about a gang of older middle aged gents who decide they are having a mid life crisis and need to get back to their good old days and take a motorcycle trip across country. John is trying to get over a divorce Martin is trying to figure out how to stand up and be a man vs his wife, Willam H Macy is trying to find a girl and Tim The tool man taylor is just getting away for a few days... well, I'm not going to go too much into the movie but here's a hint, it's rated PG-13 and it's a comedy. Take a guess on what happens.....

Anyway, this wasn't a bad movie and it kept my interest throughout so I can't bash it too badly.

Shoeless Rating: shoeless/shoeless.gif shoeless/shoeless.gif and a half

Vacancy: This was supposed to be a horror movie, but to me it just seemed like another Psycho. Hitchcock did a lot for scary movies back in the day but this wasn't much of a stretch and that's unfortunate. You've got Luke Wilson and Kate (smoking hot) Beckinsale and you still can string together a more intense storyline than they are in a hotel filled with backwoods creepy dudes? Anyway, it was creep and disturbing and it has further convinced me that I'll never drive back roads late at night if I don't konw where the heck i'm going... and I'll never stay in a hotel that I can't find on the internet.

Shoeless Rating: shoeless/shoeless.gif shoeless/shoeless.gif

Big Nothing:

This is a movie i hadn't heard of before i saw it on the shelf. Its got Simon Pegg the guy from Shawn of the dead in it as well as David Swimmer and they did a great job with all the dry/dark humor. I always enjoy a movie that's filled with crazy twists and random things that you don't really expect to happen.... esp when it's funny and not just added for drama. I enjoyed this movie a lot and thought this is one of those Gems that slips past the main theatres for some reason but I found and enjoyed.

SAR 51

Ok! so I've almost finally caught up with my SARs (Shoeless Access Reviews) since the beginning of the year. I'm a little behind on my actual posts lately but I should be doing a more detailed review from now on and hopefully you'll enjoy it more :-)

Here's the 51st SAR though... this should be the last one that is short and takes brief looks at 3 movies instead of longer looks at one movie!

Enjoy!

Crooks: lowbudget independent film that was very good. well good in the sense that it was interesting ot watch and gave me a lot of hope that i can make movies one day haha. It had only one actor that i had ever seen before and i think he knew the people who made the movie b/c otherwise he wouldn't have been in it either probably. That comedian Scott Norton (i think) he used to be on tough crowd with colin quin all hte time... the bald short guy who looks like a child molestor... anyway he was the only guy in it that i knew and he was decent but everyone did a good job... the old people tripped me out at how bad their acting was but that was about it to complain about.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

The guardian: decent movie, better than i thought it was goign to be but still not that great. REally cheezy and probalby should have been made in the early 90s late 80s and it would have been a super duper hit. it was like Top gun for the coast guard haha

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Perfume, a story of a murderer: at least i think that's what it was called. Good movie, VERY WEIRD but good. Visually stunning in a lot of sequences and lots of crazy plot things going on. I liked this movie a lot b/c it was so weird... it was one of those movies where you are like "is this real?" thru most of it and then you are like "nope, def not real at ALL" at the end but still very good.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

SAR 46-50

The last Mimzy: decent flick. esp for kids... we didn't have moives like this when i was younger, but then again you can't do muhc better than bill and ted's excellent adventure for a 8 year old either... but i digress ... good flick with a different sotry but still good

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

The bridge to Terabithia: i really didn't have a clue about this movie but i enjoyed it a lot. It was a borderline great movie esp for a teenage crowd... might be a little too grown up for kids but it was a good movie. the chick who is probably 13 at the time of hte movie is gonna grow up to be a hottie and the other actors did a very good job as well. I enjoyed this one

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

The Number 23: good movie, i kind of figured it out before it was over but it still didn't deter me from my overall enjoyment of it. Jim Carrey is very underrated as a serious actor and he wasn't distracting at all from the movie.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Zodiac: Based on a true story of the zodiac killer and it was a very long but good movie. it makes you think about what kind of wackos are out there and makes me scared to think that anyone could become as crazy as any killer that's ever been

i enjoyed this movie and thought it was well done esp with the historical accuracy of the real events.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

The Night listener: Robin williams plays a Doogie nightime radio show host who is trying to find out the truth about some kid who is dying and his blind mom.... got you attention yet? well it didn't get mind eitehr

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Employee of the month: decent flick, really stupid and annoying though, chick flick desguised as a normal funny movie. it doesn't help that jessica simpson is a terrible actress and i'm sick of dane cook either. he's still funny but not enough for me to sit thru a 90 movie with him in it. dax shepard isn't a good enough actor to be in movies either. and there are much hotter chicks than jessica simpson

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Farce of the penguins: REally stupid... i mean really stupid, it had a ton of stars in it as voices but it was really really stupid. Lots of fart/dookie humor and sex humor. If it were a little less raunchy it might have even been a really funny kids movie but it was Rated R so that ain't happeneing... all in all really stupid and not that great

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Running Scared: pretty decent flick with a good twist at the end. Well, it's not really a twist but it was prety cool anyway... lots of action and lots of good characters and plot etc etc... good movie all around i thought

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Find me Guilty: I had never heard of htis movie or the real story who it was about before this movie but i was impressed. Vin Diesel did a good job with his acting and his comedy in this one and really sold the role that he was playing. I thought it was good story and enjoyed this movie as well...

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

A Good Year: chick flick but not very sappy so it gets a full star for that alone haha. Good story and more of a "guy finding himself" movie than a chick flick love story. Russel Crowe plays a guy named Max again and but he's not fighting for his life in this one.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Aurthur and the invisibles: not bad for a kids movie. It was half real life and half cartoon but there were some good voices (so good that you didn't even know who they were) which is good b/c you didn't want to know b/c if you had known you might not have enjoyed th movie as much haha .

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Disturbia: PRetty decent flick. not really intense or anything but still pretty good. if you've seen any of the previews then you know the story and there's no crazy twist of anything just pretty much what they said it was. The chick in it is pretty hot at least and she gets in a bikini a few times at least.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Breach: this is a godo movie but it will go into that i watched once categories but i'll probably never watch it (or at lest want to watch it) again. It wasn't bad or anything though just ot something i'd want in my collection or to really ever see again haha

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Hollywood Land: decent movie but i'm still lost on how the hell it ended. I don't really think I got any closure watching it bt i def don't want to have to sit through it again so i guess i'll just give it a bad rating instead of trying to explain it haha

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Pathfinder: i was told this movie was like 300 but with 1 guy and more gore/action but it was more like 300 without as much coolness and plot. It was supposedly based on the american indian / native american legend of some viking boy who was left in Nth america way back before columbus came here but i'd never heard of this at all and it seemed pretty much like a "hollywood" legend more than anything but it might as well be true

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

SAR 41-45

Entourage season 1: this is a little different as its a tv show instead of a movie. but this show is great, def a must see for a guy. Makes you want to be a movie start or at least know someone who is haha

Entourage season 2: same goes for this one as well... blockbuster screws you over though b/c you don't get both seasons as 1 rental you get one disc per season at at time so it takes 2-3 discs to watch the whole season and so you don['t get to watch as much as you would with movies but thats my only complaint and it's not with entourage

Shoeless Ratings for both seasons: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

The Queen: this rating comes as a request from my mom. She said it was boring and didn't really chronicle the queen's life but more about the Princess Di death and stuff instead. I didn't even attempt to watch it after she said it was boring b/c she made me sit through the english patient way back in the day and loved it so i'll take her word for it and say it wasnt very good and boring.

Shoeless' mom rating: sarcasm/rock.gif

ok, here's a few for the road (i'm going out of town on sunday and so i might not be on at all during the week next week)

Hanibal rising: good flick, makes you reallly like hanibal as a character (if you didn't already) pretty disturbing and all that good stuff. I liked the movie and didn't have any complaints

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Primeval: basically i thought this was a movie about a serial killer since that's what it said in the previews but it was a croc movie not a psychopath movie. that made it drop a sarcasm/rock.gif on its' own but other tahn that it was ok. It wasn't really that great, and the special effects were cheeseball instead of cool. I could have used some more good killing scenes too...

Shoeless Ratigin: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

The Messangers: if you watch 10 mins of this movie and then remember the name of it you'll figure out hte ending... and when that's the case and the hot young girl who is the lead doesn't get neked its crap...

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif

Letters from Iwo Gima: good flick, very good story from "the other side" and if you don't mind subtitles I'd highly recommend this one. It had a lot of good stories and not too dramatic or filled with subplots. jsut a good movie.

Shoeless Raiting: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Firewall: I hope Harrison ford gets younger before the new Indiana jones comes out... he looks OLD ! I MEAN DUDE!! it's really bad when you are like that old guy can really punch someone hahaha. he's no sean connery though haha. anywya this movie was ok, pretty stupid and OUT THERE on believability though...

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Ghost Rider: not nearly as cheesy as it looks on the previews but i don't know what all the fuss was about... it was ok but nothing great or worth going into great detail about. if you are into motorcycles or something i guess you would like it more but to me it was just avg.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Black Snake Moan: good flick, very entertaining and everythig you'd really want in a movie. Christina richi is really hot and Samuel L did a great job playing and old black man haha
I highly recommend this one...

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Standing Still: some weird movie about some people who are kind of at a crossroads in their relationships... where some are getting married nad others are thinking about it and others are single...blah blah blah... it was a glorified chick flick but it had some neked strippers in it though..

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Gridiron Gang: this is one of those movies that you think to yourself "why did they make this a movie?" b/c it wasn't much of a story... maybe would have made a good book or news segment but not what i call inspirational or interesting... and the rock needs to eat a freaking sandwich between takes b/c that dude is inhumanly ripped!!

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Entourage season 2 : good stuff... see it all if you can. best show HBO ever had imo

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

The texas chainsaw massacre, the beginning: pretty gory stuff. lots of blood and random killings with very little plot. really super hot chicks as the girls but no nekedness so that distracted me a little.
gf didn't like it at all, Too gory for her. It was ok at best

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Pride: i enjoyed it but it was hookie, i kept thinking that they main guy had to be Doogie in reallife or something b/c it just didn't seem right otherwise. i think they are running out of "inspirational" movies when they need one about black swimmers though haha

SAR 36-40

Alpha Dog: Good movie, didn't know the background story but thought this was a very good movie. I liked the acting and the story. It was based on a true story so i'm wondering how much was fabricated but it was still very entertaining.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Dream Girls: ha! this is one that i rented only to give to my mom and i dind't watch it (nor do i have any desire to). So anyway she said "i don't usually like musicals but this one was great. lots of good dancing and singing and the costumes were amazing" so there you have it. the Shoeless mom review of the day. I would probably have rated it a sarcasm/yawn1.gif though so if you dare to rent it you are on your own.

oh and btw. my gf has no desire to see it either... how awesome is that? sarcasm/highfive.gif

Casino royale: so i was watching this and thinking this is lame... this guy sux at james bond. and pretty much thought it was crappy until i realizes that it was a "prequal" to the others so then it made sense. but it was still more of a poker movie than a bond. no cool gadgets or plot twists or ugly villians and the bond girls were "ehh" so i think it could have been better.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Ultraviolet: now I don't know if i've written about this one or what but I had it on my Que and so it got it in the mail but after about 30 mins in... i realizied it looked like something i've watched before and then i realized... yup. I've seen it. So i watched it again, this time paying less attention to it but i seemed to enjoy it still.

Shoeless Re-watched review: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Dave Chappelle's Block Party: take out the half hte music scenes and add more of dave being dave and you've got a hit. I'm not a fan of R&B/Rap for the most part so of course that effects my opinion but if it were all rock music stuff i'd probably still feel the same way. Decent movie though, Dave is very funny and i hope he returns to TV or Film soon.

Code Name: The Cleaner: Cedric the entertainer is funny. Lucy Lui is hot, the rest is just details. Not a grea movie but made me chuckle once or twice and i didn't get bored with it.

Going to Prison: Weird movie, not really that funny but not really that boring either. Just kind wierd. I wouldn't recommend it but then again it did have some really sexual and Doogie humor in it so if you like that kind of stuff you would prob like this movie more than i did. it wasn't terrible or really good though either

Pan's Labrynth: good movie, VERY graphic. not what I expected of it... and not really a kids movie at all either. It was really good movie though and weird in a good way. All subtitles and set in WWII Spain. there's nobody you'll recognize in it from American films but apparently in Europe the dir and actors are all famous.

Syriana: boring but interesting. it was long and not really what i wanted to see that day so i barely made it through but maybe on a different day it wouldn't have been so bad. but i only watched it when i watched it so i can't change that.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half but interesting

Freedom Land: good movie, Sam L Jackson does a good job and so does that white lady whose name escapes me at the moment. i can't really talk much about it or it'll reveal the ending or at least give you some clues and i'd rather just say it's pretty decent and leave it at that.

Deja Vu: good movie with a terrible ending. If they had ended it better i would have given it 4 but they totally shag themselves in the pooper with the ending they choose artistically but yet more people like their ending but i hated it.

Aeon Flux: Decent flick with some cool special effects and weird plot etc. kinda sci-fi but without being too weird but i enjoyed it. Could have used some neked chicks though and an R rating instead of PG 13

Apocalypto: I think Mel Gibson must beat off to gore. I mean, there is a line between something that is artistic and creative and just overkill and becomes laughable. I thought this movie crossed that line at lot. I really couldn't stay focused b/c every other scene I was laughing at the thought of mel gibson in the editting room beating himself dry to every drop of blood and over-the-top violence that was included. I mean i like violence and thought braveheart was well done and i thought the passion of the christ was very interesting with the extreme use of brutality it depicted but considering mel's track record this movie was stupid and annoying and everything else that is bad.

Crank: good flick. Very high energy and lots of non-stop action. It was interesting and fun to watch. I enjoyed this movie a lot more than I thought i would. The guy (same guy as teh transporter movies) is a great action hero and amy smart is still hot.

Breed: this was one of those blockbuster exclusive movies that we got bc all the movies we wanted were checked out. i liked it. thought it was stupid, but i liked it. my gf couldn't watch it b/c it was about dogs being psycho and killing without reason but i thought it was pretty funny watching everyone die. If you like this type of movie it's pretty good.

SAR 31-35

Sorry for the missed week... I'll catch up today>>>>>

Waist Deep: good flick, whatever the main guy's name it (good looking model black dude) did a great job and i liked the plot even though it wasn't THAT original. I thought the action was good and the story flowed well.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

The Good Shepard: Another movie that was better and more deserving of the Oscar than The Departed. I liked this movie a lot and thought it told a great story. It also had an amazing cast of characters too. Angelina, Matt Damon, Alec Baldwin, Anthony Hopkins, just to name a few... good movie and worth sitting through the entire 2.5 hour +

The Nativity Story: Amazing movie! They did this movie right! I am very proud to be a Joseph after this movie. I REALLY REALLY REALLY liked this movie. Might even buy it! Good for families or kids and adults too. They did a great job telling the story the way it was and they didn't really Bible it up too much or Hollywood it up either

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

The Sentinal: not a bad flick, kind of like a remake of the fugitive and in the line of fire all rolled into one. Eva H was in it and she looked mighty fine even though she didn't have many lines and didn't get close to naked (unfortunately). The plot on it's own was ok but they didn't really do that great of job with the whole movie so it wasn't as interesting as it could have been.

Posiedon: Well, it wasn't the worst movie ever, but it wasn't good at all either. No boobs or anything cool to really keep my interest so it didnt really win me over that much either. Also, just about everyone on teh whole boat died and the few survivors acted like they were super happy to be alive at the end... it was just stupid and not very interesting or believable at all

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Art School Confidential: def an artsy movie and i found it on a list of movies so that's why I added it but i liked this movie better thna any of the other movies I"ve watched on this SAR so it really didn't have much to compete with. There was some boobs too however there was also some man-nudity and that wasn't good except it was funny. anyway the plot was decent and i liked the acting and jokes (mainly b/c i was in art school not too long ago so it was funny to see it depicted on film).

The Last King of Scotland: So i didn't have a clue what this movie was about.... i thought I did but i didn't. I thought it was about some good guy king who ruled some african country way back in the day and everyone liked him blah blah blah... and why did I think this? well all the previews I saw for this movie was of Forrest Whit smiling and laughing and all the critics saying "a powerful performance" so anyway, i was really surprised to see how graphic this movie was. I didnt have a clue lol. Anyway, Forrest W did a great job and deserved the oscar, the movie was good too. Not sure if it was something I'd want to see agian but it was good. (also showed some boobs and rear of some ladies)

Smokin' Aces: pretty good flick. All the actors did a great job and weren't just names to fill parts. I thought the plot was more interesting than I expected and I enjoyed the action. It wasn't as crazy and intense as the trailors made it seem but it was very interesting and a good movie

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Freedom Writers: good flick, def should check it out. They def stuck to the original story(ies) b/c they had all sorts of extras on teh dvd with the real teacher chick etc. I liked this movie but thought they either needed to eliminate the "husband" storyline or do a better job with it, but that was my only beef with the movie

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

RV: better than i expected. Robin williams is pretty funny and the outtakes were good too. Jo-Jo needs to turn 18 and have sex with me. the mom's of hte moive were all milfs and the rest of the characters were funny too.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Hoot: def a kids movie. not bad though. if you have any kids 7-15 they'd probably like this one but as an adult it's pretty lame.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Inside man: i don't think spike lee has made a movie i didn't like. Denzel is his normal greatness and it was agood movie with good plot and twists etc etc... i enjoyed it

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

Larry the cable guy: Health Inspector:what do you expect really? i mean it was going ot Federline so i guess it didn't Federline as bad as i thought it would anyway but it still was only mildly funny. lots of toliet humor but had one or 2 funny moments so not completely terrible.

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif

ATL: didn't have a clue what this movie was about but i enjoyed it. Good flick with some good acting. I thought it had a good story and "message" and wasn't just a shoot'em up gansta flick. i thought it had too much of a chick flick lean to it at times but it was a good movie

Shoeless Rating: sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif sarcasm/rock.gif and a half

Anapolis: I thought this was a war movie or even a remake of the movie with richard gere from the 70s/80s? with the black dude who's name escpaes me but anywya this was more of a boxing movie than anything. it had some good parts but for the most part it was kinda lame.
