Review:
So, unless you've been living under a rock or on the moon or in Iraq or under your mom's Volkswagon you've probably heard about the Harry Potter Franchise. Anyway, I love the story and the books and all but the movies always disappoint. They aren't terrible and they have great potential but they listen too much to the public and not enough to the author and directors. They shoulda keep the 1st director or at least the 2nd but they didn't b/c of creative differences and I don't blame the directors for walking one bit. You can't fit a 500 page books of awesome stories into a 120 minute movie and when you try, you fail and it hurts the quality of the flick. I wish more movies were 3 hours long and they actually just didn't take a crap on great pieces of art. I still like the movies but they get a full point deduction for just being stupid.

Great, GREAT freaking movie! This movie messes with your emotions the whole time. For like the first hour you are so sad and mad that you want to punch everyone in the face! Then the next hour or so you are wanting to do pushups and run marathons. It's just a roller coaster ride of a movie and it really was an entertaining movie. Definitely awesome from all the actors and the director. F'n BA!

So basically this is a "always the bridesmaid never the bride" movie on steroids. The big boobed chick from the Grey's Anatomy is the bridesmaid and she meets the man of her dream and it doesn't work but then it does and then it doesn't and then it does and then it doesn't and so on and so forth. You've seen the movie a bunch before and all chicks like it and all dudes are annoyed. rinse and repeat

Seriously good movie. It was gut wrenching to watch at times but a good movie to sit through. I definitely would watch this one again and as a bonus you get to see Marisa Tormei neked and she looks good for 50 or whatever she is now. Basically an interesting and good movie.

Prayer Requests and Praises

Hello everyone who doesn't follow my blog!

Hope you are all doing well! I am just wanting to write out a couple of prayer requests that I have for some friends of mine as well as give thanks for all the blessings in my life.

First off the Praises:
Praise for my life and my fiance and my dog. I am very blessed and I am grateful for everything I have. I hope that I never forget my blessing from my family, friends, health and happiness.

The Prayer requests:
I'd like to ask for Prayers for my friend Greg. He's a good kid and I love him to death but he's lost and has been for a long time. I want to help him but don't really know how so I ask that he find guidance and peace in his own life and I hope that I can offer friendship to him always.

For my friends who smoke, please let them quit before it's too late.

I'd like to ask forgiveness for my enemies and for my own sins.

I pray for the world and our country.

I really wish people would stop living such selfish lives and could actually give back to the people in need.

Your will be done Lord.
Amen

You may not return to not reading my blog.

Stuff for May 21, 2009

I had all the intentions in the world of writing another 5 or so movie reviews tonight but I don't really have the energy. It's been a bad day/week/month/year/decade (ok not really but it was a bad day).

Anyway, I hope to be back on board tomorrow.

About the Movie:
A movie about the inside of a hollywood producer's life. Lots of big names in this movie and lots of hollywood drama!

Review:
I really wish I was a big time producer in Hollywood sometimes. Then again, sometimes I don't. I honestly just want to make movies but I want to avoid all the drama and money bullstuff that people have to deal with all the time. People's egos get in the way too often and this film is a good example of how this works. Good movie and I couldn't tell you how accurate it is to real life. I'd like to think they got it close.

HDR 145 (What would Jesus buy?)

What would Jesus buy?

About the Movie:
C&P from the website, best description i could find:
a serious docu-comedy about the commercialization of Christmas. Bill Talen (aka Reverend Billy) was a lost idealist who hitchhiked to New York City only to find that Times Square was becoming a mall. Spurred on by the loss of his neighborhood and inspired by the sidewalk preachers around him, Bill bought a collar to match his white caterer's jacket, bleached his hair and became the Reverend Billy of the Church of Stop Shopping. Since 1999, Reverend Billy has gone from being a lone preacher with a portable pulpit preaching on subways, to the leader of a congregation and a movement whose numbers are well into the thousands.

Through retail interventions, corporate exorcisms, and some good old-fashioned preaching, Reverend Billy reminds us that we have lost the true meaning of Christmas. What Would Jesus Buy? is a journey into the heart of America – from exorcising the demons at the Wal-Mart headquarters to taking over the center stage at the Mall of America and then ultimately heading to the Promised Land … Disneyland.

Will we be led like Sheeple to the Christmas slaughter, or will we find a new way to give a gift this Christmas? What Would Jesus Buy? may just be the divine intervention we’ve all been searching for.

Review:
So, I agree 100% with this movie! 100%! I've said it before and I'll say it now, what kind of world would be live in if people spent 1/2 of what they do on Alcohol, fast food and extras. Just half. Not 80% but just took 50% of every penny they spent going out and doing whatever and just sent to people in more need. I think it'd be a lot better actually. That's pretty sad. We are a long way from what Jesus wants from us and I don't see the tide turning. I pray I'm wrong. Great movie. Very funny. Only knock on it at all was it didn't have subtitles. That demotes it a half.

Good cartoon/animated flick as usual. The action and humor was good and the story was the usual cheesy stuff. I really liked the hamster (b/c everyone did apparently) but the 2ndary characters were interesting and the plot didn't drag very often. Good movie for kids and most people esp animal lovers. I guess the book had to be better or something because the only thing good about this movie was Kristin Stewart is decently hot. Besides that, it was lame, gay and stupid. Did i mention it was lame? It was really bad lame. Like when the vampire guy was in sunlight? OMG that was totally super gay and I don't even mean to offend gay people by saying that either. It was just terrible. I would read the book but I don't think I want to have to watch the sequel but then again I probably will for comic value.

Yeah, So basically here's another 007 movie and it's about the same as the others. I think they've made like 20 or more of these movies now so that's cool but they are all pretty much the same now. James is BA and he's gotta rescue some chick or at least bang a chick or two and then the world is safe again. About the Movie:
So basically there's this guy who grows up in absolute crap of a world. His mom gets killed. He's only got an older brother who treats him like a slave. He's homeless forever and has really nothing going for him. And then he gets a shot to win like a billion dollars in Indian money or whatever. So he gets on the show and has to answer all these really weird, but not surprisingly difficult questions to win. And he knows all the answers b/c of weird and horrible things that happened to him throughout his life.

Website: http://www.foxsearchlight.com/slumdogmillionaire/

Trailer:

Review:
I knew it was a happy ending type of movie they choked down a big one with this cheese fest here.

Gimmick story, cheesy scenes, a kid completely covered in poop... it was just a terrible take on what could have been a very heart felt and emotional story.

It wasn't a a best picture nominee movie much less a winner; yet, unfortunately, that's not the reality. The academy disappoints me again.

This is no way a knock on the actors in this movie, they did a great job. And this wasn't a terrible movie either. It was a "GOOD" movie. I just thought it could have been so much more.

Slumdog was a forgettable movie. It isn't deserving to be on the same list as
many of the others I've called "great".

A "great" movie has got to change me in a way to be worthy of greatness and Slumdog didn't. I'll remember my negative review of it more than I'll remember the movie.

HDR 137 (The Hitman)

The Hitman

About the Movie:
So, I think they had a video game or something 1st that was about this guy. There's a hitman. He's actually bred for killing (kinda like me) and he is very monotonous with his killing job. He doesn't get involved emotionally and he doesn't screw up. So he's doing his work and all of a sudden there's a mixup with what he did and he looks like he's being set up. And there's also this girl who is like totally slutty and naked half the time and she and him strike up a weird "friendship." So basically, it's a action, romance, adventure flick.

Website:http://www.hitmanmovie.com/

Trailer:

Review:
I actually liked this movie more than I expected to. I think there was just enough gore, violence and blood for me to give it the extra entertainment value and not too much that it was over-the-top, well, it was over-the-top but I liked it. I thought the fight scenes were very well choreographed and the plot flowed well for the whole movie. The actors were decent enough even though the main character dude wasn't my favorite. The chick was hotter than I expected and she did a good job playing her role realistically.

The movie:

So basically there's this chef in a restaurant who's been there for like a million years or whatever and it's her place. Anyway, this chef lady has a sister and her daughter who are coming to visit and the mom dies but her daughter doesn't. So the Chef lady has to take care of her. Anyway, things are pretty crazy for a while and then the boss lady of the restaurant hires another chef dude to help out and there's tension and then love... maybe. Anyway, chick flick all the way. Chef lady is played by Catherine Zeta-Hotta Jones

Website: http://noreservationsmovie.warnerbros.com/

The Review:
Ehh. Kind of exactly what you would expect. A few laughs. A few "awwws". A few gags. It was basically 100% exactly what you would expect from watching the trailer. I don't need to go into any more detail than that or I really will spoil it for you. If you are girl and/or love chick flicks, get it. Put it in the collection. Talk about how stupid I am and get on with it. If you aren't, watch it on a date and hope to get laid afterwards. Not terrible not great.

Lions for Lambs

Website:

About:

Basically, there's a professor (played by Robert Redford) a politician (played by Tom Cruise) and a reporter (played by Meryl Streep) who are all fighting different battles pertaining to the same delima: a conflict in the middle east. The Professor is trying to explain to a lost student the changes he can make in the world. The Politician is trying to find the right thing to do to help and still get re-elected or take the next step up the ladder towards being President. The reporter is trying to get a story.

Trailer:

Review:
Decent movie. Really made me think about some things. I think this movie was pretty accurate on what I think about what's going on with the world and how different groups treat the same conflicts. There's your group of actual world changers. There's your group of blame shifters. There's your group of blame pointers. I feel like most fall into the shift/pointer category and really think it's not their problem. This applies to all conflicts too. I think most people would plea ignorance against most things happening and that's pretty sad. There's more than the wars we see on TV and read about online and there are people out there fighting and dieing but all we see is what affects our pocketbooks and what ___news wants to show to get the best ratings.

I've said before that if people spent just a fraction of their time on something other than themselves we'd live in a better world. That fraction could be as simple as just finding out where they could help. It's not hard to find people in need. If you don't see any, just open your eyes.

Alright, so we watched this one at my bi-weekly Bible study and I was very impressed. Movies with children as the lead actors can be difficult to watch sometimes but this one was not so bad, granted I wasn't boo-hooing at the end or even moved all that much at all even. However, considering the dragging storyline it was still a well made movie. For the most part it just reminded me of how cruel people can be esp in a time of war. It really saddens me that people could really be so hateful to another person based on their ethnicity or color of their skin. Even women being repressed by men b/c they think "their religion" calls for it pisses me off. I'm digressing though. Decent movie, but nothing really special. Good for kids ages 10-15 more than anything I'd guess.

HDR 133 (The Watchmen)

I'm changing it up a bit.

Instead of 5 reviews at a time I'm only going to do one now but I'm gonna make it easier to follow.

1st I'm going to tell you the move I'm reviewing:

Today's Movie: Watchmen

2nd I'm gonna tell you about the movie and even give you a trailer from youtube:
This movie was hyped up big time. Lots of action. Epic feel. Tons of drama. Big name director.

Website:
http://watchmenmovie.warnerbros.com/

Trailer: Available in HD too

Now for the review:

Ok, this movie looks stupid awesome. I mean, it just looks like it's gonna be sick! You'd think it's gonna have great graphics and special effects. A great soundtrack and acting. You'd think the storyline was gonna be off the chain and people were going ot be high-fiveing their way to the exits after this one right?

Well, it blew chunks people. I mean it was so bad Mr Fancy Pants was ready to leave 1/2 way through the joint! I seriously only could stand the movie after a certain point b/c i started seeing the humor in its epic failure. I really don't think I've laughed as much at a movie that wasn't trying to be funny than I did this one. Caveman Karl and I couldn't have made a stupider movie if we were loaded on drugs and had a billion dollar budget, then again our movie would actually be funny and not serious though.

Anyway, this movie choked down fatties as it sucked royally!
