Joseph R. Jackson grew up in the upstate of South Carolina — a Clemson legacy, third generation. His grandfather walked that campus. His father followed as head cheerleader and Tiger mascot. By the time Joseph arrived, the expectation wasn't spoken. It was woven in. He was a proud Tiger. He still is.
The storytelling started early. He began writing at fifteen, putting words on paper the same way most teenagers put feelings somewhere they couldn't be questioned. By 1999 he was making videos and short films. By 2005, the camera had become a profession — and Shoeless Works was officially open for business.
"The best photographs are the ones where nobody knew they were being taken."
Over twenty years, more than two hundred and fifty weddings, and well over five thousand total jobs later — the work still doesn't feel routine. Every couple is different. Every location has its own light. Every project teaches something new. That's the job: show up, pay attention, and give people something they can hold onto when the memory starts to fade.
